Twice a year the syrian president who hold the rank of “ fariq” in the army ,issue a list contain the names (promoted – transferred – retired) officers for both the military and intelligence officers
The first list in 1st of January , the second in 1st of July
Last list include promoting “liwae” asef shawkat to a higher rank “ imad “ but send him out of the military intelligence in which he was the director since 14th Feb 2005 .
He was send to be a deputy chief of staff of the army that mean deputy of the Christian “ imad “ david rajha .
It was not necessary to take him out of the military intelligence in order to put him deputy chief of staff ?, as “ imad “ ali douba in the ninetieth was together deputy chief of staff & chief of the military intelligence .
After two years the deputy army leader “ imad “ ali habib will be retired according to his age , then he will replaced automatically by the chief of staff so the position of chief of staff will be vacant in two years .
Usually the older deputy of the chief of staff will replace him so if the president did this move for Asef to put him as chief of staff after two years he has to either retired the existing deputies or send them to another positions
We have to wait to see
